In 1998, David Zokaites co-received the JCPenney Golden Rule Award for volunteer teaching at a local school. He and his friend taught Aiki Ryu karate, "The way of flowing energy," at an after school program. The children loved the time, the attention, and the new skills achieved. One of their favorite parts of the class was learning how to fall, and learning how to jump off a ladder. If you know how to land it's really quite a blast flying a few feet and jumping off a short ladder. In the class, kids learned to fall, to fly, and to believe in themselves.
